Update

Just a quick note to say we're still good and that I've been remiss in posting because my mother became ill. She had bypass surgury on Friday and is doing well. Will get back to posting when things are more normal.

Work, Eating Out (Roby, MO)

As I said yesterday, made it to work and went home at noon. Rested for a while then we decided to go back to the Catfish Lake to eat again. My sister and nephew went with us. When we got there, there was a sign on the gate that said "Closed, no electricity". Well, now what to do? We drove an additional 20 or so miles and ate at Pizza Hut. Still a fun afternoon!

Work, Dinner, Storm

What a day at the store! Today was the day for the local fair.....way more people in this small town than need to be. Of course, that meant lots of business for the store and that made by feet sore from standing up more than normal!

Since Nolan was gone for my birthday, I made him feel bad and he took me out to eat. Was so looking forward to a great meal and it was not. Baked potato was cold, salmon had that black stuff on the bottom of it, and the service was poor....Oh well, I got to go out to eat!

Watched the news before we went to bed and didn't really get too concerned about the weather but I guess we should have. There's nothing like being in a storm in a 5th Wheel!!! When the wind blows as strong as it was last night it feels like the thing is going to blow over. About 4:30 am, we decided it was time to get out of it. I grabbed both dogs and Nolan got the cat and off we ran to the truck. We were soaked!!!! We sat in the truck until it was time for me to get ready for work.....I ran back to the trailer and took a quick shower while Nolan stayed in the truck with the animals. He then drove me to the store and by that time things had calmed down. Not much sleep!!!

Longaberger Meeting, Nolan Returns

Spent all day getting ready for my Longaberger Branch meeting, packed a few new products, and took off for St Robert (30 minute). First stopped by the restaurant to make sure they would reserve a table for us and then went shopping at Wal Mart....actually did not have very much shopping to do, just needed to get a prescription refilled. Made it back to the restaurant before any of the girls go there. Was a great meeting and meal!

When I was pulling into town (home), Nolan was returning from his trip to Maryland from the other direction.....yeah!!!!! He's home!

9/11, Birthday, New Phone, New Chairs

I think I now know what it's like to have a birthday on a holiday.....although 9/11 is not a holiday, it is a very sad day, I don't want to take away from the importance of all those who lost their lives on that day......it sure makes it hard to have a happy birthday! Fifty some years ago I was born on my mother's birthday, 9/11! Well, today I drove to Springfield to have lunch with my daughter and get my hair cut and colored....it always helps to get a "new do" when you're getting older....one that makes you look younger!

Also today was the day I wanted to buy an air card for my computer. Well.......bought myself, for my birthday, from me, the new iPhone. It sure is cool, but probably way more gadget than I needed. I love it! The air card is good also.

On the way home the new recliners I bought for the trailer were in so I stopped and picked them up...of course it started to rain. Luckily, it did not get the chairs wet. They were in boxes and covered inside the box with plastic. So, when I got home I quickly opened the boxes and took them inside. I was so thankful that they came in two pieces. That meant that I could carry them myself (Nolan is still not back from Maryland yet). I absolutely love the chairs!

So, I did have a good birthday!

No Sick Pets, Dinner with a Friend

Boy, I'm sure glad the animals are feeling better....Lucy is back to driving everyone cazy with wanting to play all the time and Tequila is hopping up on everything wanting you to pet her all the time.

Sometimes you let yourself get out of touch with good friends, especially if they are friends that you had before you get a divorce. And, these friends were probably better friends with my ex than me but I still enjoyed their company a lot. It had been a very long time since we actually sat down and talked to each other. We met for dinner at the local cafe to spend some time catching up and talking. She then came by to see my new home. We had a great time and I've told myself I'm not going to let that happen again.

Nolan Leaves, Lucy's Sick, Longaberger Home Show

Nolan got up very early and was off to Maryland....I have great plans for the week, i.e. clean out the basement, get everything in it's place finally, go pick up the new recliners, get a haircut and color, buy an air card and booster with antenna. Hope all goes well!

Well, after I finally got up I discovered that Lucy was very, very sick. Last week my daughter's Maddie, also a silky terrior, got her shots updated and got very sick. Carla called her vet the next morning and the vet said not to worry that they sometimes get sick just like people do when they get a flu shot. So, I didn't pantic like Carla did but it sure was sad. Lucy wouldn't even walk anywhere, didn't eat or drink all day, she was shivering and just let me hold her all morning. Finally put her down to get ready for my last Longaberger Home Show for a while although I was not very comfortable leaving her.

Spent at least 3 hours getting ready for the home show.....wanted to do something different because it was the same group that I had been talking to for the last couple of months. Turned out to be a great show, 14 ladies showed up. Hope everyone had a good time.....I sure did and besides that it was kind of profitable. Made about $175....great part time job don't you think!

Microchips and Shots

Today was the day I had made an appointment with our vet to get microchips put in the dogs. Nolan thinks I'm crazy but if I was to loose one of the dogs I would go crazy, especially Lucy, and as much as I hate to say it, I have not been a good dog trainer. She pretty much does what she wants and does not listen to me very well. Up until a couple of months ago, she absolutely could not be trusted to even go outside without being on a leash. She's better but if she gets excited about something, she's uncontrollable! So, I will not let her out without being on a leash but you never know when she might dart out the door or something and just to make me feel better, I wanted the microchips!!! Not a very exciting vet visit but he did tell me that the dogs should both get updated shots. So we did and $125 later we were on our way home and I feel much better!!!

Nolan was busy all day getting trucks and himself ready for the last leg of his trip.....he leaves for Maryland tomorrow.

Work, Eat, Diesel

Worked again this morning.....only 2 more weekends to work! Still plan to leave Roby, MO, on September 28.

After working, laid around at home a little then we decided to go out to eat. Going out to eat around here is driving 30 miles somewhere first. We went to Houston, MO, and ate at Miller's Grill. They have the best cheesy potato soup!

Made a quick stop at Wal Mart and then to the gas station for diesel not gas! While Nolan was fueling up he talked to two guys who had just put gas in their diesel trucks....one of my greatest fears!!!!

Work, Catfish

Wow was it cold this morning when I got up to get ready for my first day of working. Turned on the little electric heater and silly me didn't shut it off before I turned on the hair dryer. Through the breaker and took me forever to figure out how to turn it back on....and Nolan sure wasn't getting out of bed to help either. He got in about midnight and I guess he was tired!

Was kind of slow at work and I thought 2:00 pm was never going to come around.

We decided to go out to eat at a new "Pay Lake" where they also have a restaurant that serves the catfish from the lake. Not bad and a very pretty place....will really be nice after they get everything finished up, i.e. landscaping and stuff.

Drove home the long way through country roads....nice afternoon after a very slow morning!

Tequila is still not OK....don't think she ate today....I'm a little worried.

Day of Nothing But Sorting Through Files

Was slow about waking up today.....decided I didn't feel so good....maybe got a little of what Cara had. Worried about Tequila all day. She only got up a couple of times but she did eat some.

Finally made it through the stack of papers and stuff I had that needed to be thrown away or filed in the two drawer file cabinet I put in the trailer. Took about 3 hours but I made it through it all and had a big stack of trash and everything I wanted to keep fit in the cabinet!

Now only one more thing to do and I'll feel like everythings is in it's place.....organize the "basement"!

Nolan called and he will be back home tonight to get something done with the trucks he's using. Think he'll be here a couple of days before he goes to Maryland.

Groomers

Spent the day driving animals around. First drove 35 miles to Lebanon to drop off Tequila, cat, at her groomer for her appointment at 9:00 am. Explained that she was not going to be easy to work with and took off for home to drop off Lucy, dog, at her groomer for her appointment at 10:00 am. Lucy's groomer was OK with me not picking her up until 3:30 or 4:00 pm. Went back to the trailer and took a short nap then left for Lebanon to go to Wal Mart and pick up Tequila. She was very scared and worn out. I was a little worried that she might not be OK....maybe too much stress for an old cat......we'll see. Made it back in time to pick up Lucy and take everyone home. What a day!

Work, Cara, Pet Care

Well, in between our getting ready to move out, Nolan decided to make one more trip for his friend hauling equipment. This will be a long trip. He will first go out to Colorado Springs, CO, to pick up the equipment and then from there take the equipment all the way to Fort Meade, MD. He will be gone for at least a week. I should be able to get the rest of the stuff in the trailer put where it belongs and the "basement" organized.

Well, Cara, my great niece, did get to stay with me another day. However, today was a very rainy day and we mostly stayed inside all day. We played on the computer, watched cartoons, and played with the Play Doh. She is so cute and fun to be with!!! We will sure miss getting to see them as often as we do now. My plan is to take them with us during the summer for as much as their mother will let them!

Decided it was time to get the pets ready for travelling. Tequila, the 16 year old Himilayan cat, seriously needed a hair cut to get rid of all the matted hair so I made an appointment for her tomorrow at 9:00 in Lebanon with a new groomer. Tequila does not like groomers and the last one pretty much said don't bring her back....she bites. Lucy, the Silky Terrior, needs a trim also. Called the same lady she has gone to since she was a puppy and she said to bring her in at 10:00 (that's local). So, I will have a busy morning. Also, decided that both the dogs needed to be microchipped. Made an appointment for that Monday, September 8. I think that should be it for the animals!

Sure is quite around here when Nolan is gone. Watched the Republican Convention and fell asleep!

5th Wheel Hitch, LP Gas, Sick Girl

We have been so lucky! Over the weekend I was talking to a co-worker at the local convenience store and she mentioned that her parents might have a 5th wheel hitch that they would sell. Nolan went to look at it today and decided it would work for us. Has only been used once and we got it for $400. Nolan's brother will install it for us and we should be pretty much ready to go.

Speaking of going......we're leaving Roby, MO, on September 28, for Rosine, KY. We'll probably make a stop for a night or two before we get there. We will be going there for the Bluegrass Festival they have there every year. Here's information on the festival http://www.jerusalemridgefestival.org/jr2007home.html.

After picking up the hitch we decided it was about time to fill up the LP gas tanks. So, Nolan loaded them up and we took off for town. While we were in town, we stopped at the farm and equipment store to check out the tool boxes. I think they had one we should have gotten, but Nolan wants to look around some more.

My great niece who is 5 years old was not feeling up to par so she got to stay with us today. You could tell she was not her usual talkative self and she only took one bite of her pizza (her favorite food). She still was a lot of fun and maybe she will get to stay another day with us!

Alley Springs, MO

I had promised my nephew, Cain, that we would go swimming again. My sister and I decided we would drive to Alley Springs (about an hour drive) so we could take Brenna and Cara also. Turned out that her daughter and her husband and her son all went. We took hot dogs and had a picnic before we ate and then we swam or played in the water the rest of the afternoon. Great place to take little kids to play in the water!!!
